Sonja Randall

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Sonja has been an SCV resident since 2007. After years of working as a Sous Chef in such restaurants as Saddle Ranch Universal and becoming the Executive Chef at a high volume catering company, she decided to venture off to focus on her own BBQ Catering company, Smokin’ Bar-B-Quties. Her area of expertise is menu and event planning for larger corporations with 1,000 + employees.

A teen mother of a now adult son herself, she understands how hard it is for teens to deal with rough situations.

“As kids we don’t understand that there are people out there to help you – if you just ask for it. We don’t know how to ask, or are too insecure and afraid to ask. We don’t know how to look for it. I love that The Youth Project is here for them. I feel very honored to be a part of an organization that contributes in providing teens with a guiding hand towards a productive future.”

Sonja enjoys volunteering locally here in the SCV with The Youth Project, as well as donating time to Heal the Bay, The LA Mission, Project Angel Food, and Food on Foot, and can often be seen BBQ-ing at various fundraisers in the SCV community.
