    The Youth Project is excited to announce a brand new partnership with Duff Goldman (Ace of Cakes, Food Network) and his new store, Duff’s Cake Mix.

    “What makes us so special is that we’re the first interactive design bakery where the customer is the artist! Your canvas is one of Duff’s world famous cakes, and we provide everything you could ever desire to decorate your dream cake or cupcake.”


    Now, for the first time ever, you’re invited to team up with Duff for the 5th Annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction!

     

     

    Here’s how:

    • Visit Duff’s Cake Mix between Sunday, February 24th and Friday, March 1st, and a portion of your in-store purchase will be donated back to the Youth Project.
    • Are you a baking beginner or somewhere between newbie and professional? We are happy to announce the new “Novice” category featured at our event! Whether you’re part of a team, school, youth group, family, troop, business or just a few friends, now you can enter the competition with no experience necessary. The designers at Duff’s are ready to help you get creative. And, Duff himself will judge the cakes designed at his store!**

    Winner will be announced at the Sweet Charity Event on March 2nd.  Duff’s chosen winner will be featured on his website and will receive a cake decorating party for 4 people.  ** Please note all cake entries and voting by Duff needs to be completed by 3:00pm on Friday, March 1st and cakes can be brought to the Sweet Charity Cake Auction on March 2 to be including in the auction.

    Plus, Duff is also scheduled to appear as one of our Celebrity Judges! So let’s get baking!

    What is this event?

    Here’s your opportunity for your business or organization to be highlighted at the coolest, most unique event in Santa Clarita.  Design a cake that best reflects your mission, logo, or product – think big, bold, creative, eye catching.  Then pair your cake with unique gifts (trips, baskets, gift certificates, services, etc.) creating an innovative and valuable auction item for guests to bid on. These auction items are to be determined by you – we can certainly make suggestions that will help increase the value of your entry.  Cakes will be awarded prizes based on their originality and creativity as well as the cake that raises the most money.  Need ideas?  Check out our website to see pictures from the last few years

    Who bakes the cake?

    You are free to design and bake your own cake, but if you want to hire a specialist – please call us and we can make numerous recommendations for local cake designers who are top notch!

    Can I sponsor this event? OF COURSE!

    Sponsorship levels range from a Royal Icing Sponsorship of $10,000 to a Sprinkle Sponsor of $100.  Whatever you decide to do, your contribution absolutely makes a huge impact on the success of the event.  CLICK HERE

    How much does this cost to participate?

    To enter a Cake/Auction Package:  $25.00 (cake price is separate and is negotiated with designer).  For this entry, you will receive space at the event, listing in the press kit, and one ticket for reception.

     

    To attend Competition & Auction Reception as a guest (Saturday 6:30pm – 10pm) – $45.00 per person

    What a spectacular night!

    More than 200 people attended the 4th Annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction and Competition and more than 25 cakes were put on display to be judged and purchased.

    The Sweet Charity Cake event was a huge success AGAIN!  The TPC @ Valencia opened their doors for us as we celebrated the 4th year of the “sweetest” fundraiser in Santa Clarita.   Providence Medical Center was our Royal Icing Sponsor, with great support from Facey Medical Group Fondant Sponsor and Sugar Sponsors, City of Santa Clarita, Whitening Lightning, KHTS, Rituals Colour Salon.  And a BIG thanks to our Co-Chairs, Jeri Seratti – Goldman and Renee’ Kaehny!!

  • The Judges have been announced for the 4th Annual Sweet Charity event

    On April 21, 2012 The Tournament Players Club at Valencia, will be transformed into the most decadent fundraiser you have ever been invited to attend.  Local businesses will create specialty cakes that best reflect their product, logo or service and put it up on the auction block for you to bid on!  Cakes will be judged on by our esteemed group of celebrity judges.

     

    Toni Minor, is a Graduate from the California Culinary Academy.  She began her culinary career 20 years ago as a caterer for the film industry which expanded her experience in delivery gourmet meals.  For the last 10 years she has owned and operated Getting Fresh Craft Service, specializing in healthy appetizer and meal replacement options for the cast and crew in the film and entertainment industry.  She has been consulted for shows like American Idol, Ellen, MTV Music Awards, The ESPYs, and many many more.  Her specialties include catering, private in home cooking classes (group or individual), event planning, weight loss and specialty diets, kitchen consultations; and of course being a private chef

     

     

    Taylor Spreitler, a singer and model turned actress, Taylor got her big break in 2009 as Mia on “Days of our Lives” and is now starring on ABC Family’s “Melissa and Joey”.  When she is not on TV, she is filming movies and volunteering her time at various charities such as Much Love Animal Rescue, NOH8 campaign , Dear Mr. President Project for homeless children, Walk for Autism, Revlon walk for Breast Cancer, Run 4 her Life run/walk for breast cancer.

     

     

     

     

    Vicki Lewis, best known for her role as Beth the secretary on the hit NBC series “Newsradio”.  Vicki has had recurring and guest starring roles on “Curb Your Enthusiasm”  “The Middle” “Bones”, “Dirt” “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Surviving Suburbia” ”Sonny With A Chance” “Melissa and Joey” “Caroline In The City” “Norm” “Phenom” “Murphy Brown” “Grace Under Fire” “Seinfeld” and “Home Improvement”.  And when she is not on TV, she is on stage in “Hello Dolly” and “Chicago” or in the studio recording an album

     

     

     

     

    Cindy Schwanke, is the full time culinary instructor at College of the Canyons.  She has helped grow the culinary program into a well respected, competitive culinary establishment. She has done various cooking workshops, community service projects and fundraisers to promote the college and the culinary program.  Cindy has worked at Hyatt Hotels, Four Seasons Hotel, Smash box Studios, Spago restaurant and retail outlets. Cindy has her degree in Culinary Food Management. Her specialty is pastry and has won numerous medals in pastry competitions.
