Grantwriter & Historian, Heidi Sommer

Heidi is originally from Los Angeles, where she received a BA (in Communications/Mass Media) from UCLA and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy (emphasis on Social Welfare programs) from USC.  Currently she is working on her PhD at the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley and serving as Lead Investigator for multi-county initiatives that aim to improve the manner in which child welfare agencies serve foster youth.  For over eight years, she has also worked as a nonprofit consultant on program evaluation and grant writing, helping to raise over $1.5 million for organizations operating in Los Angeles County.

Heidi and her husband reside in the Bay Area with their daughter.
