Peer Mentor, Julia Callaghan


Julia grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia.  After graduating with her Bachelors Degree in Social Work in 2008, Julia began working as a case manager for the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging.  In the spring of 2010, Julia moved to the Los Angeles area where she began a social worker position with an Adult Day Health Care Program, specializing in individuals with mental illness.  After working in the mental health field for a year, she made the decision to pursue higher education and is currently working towards her Masters Degree in Social Work at California State University, Northridge.  Julia’s fields of interest include children, youth, and families and mental health.  Her ultimate goal after graduation is to obtain her license to practice clinical social work (LCSW) and provide clinical support guided by a generalist approach.
