Renee’ Kaehny is a long time resident of the Santa Clarita Valley, having moved here almost 20 years ago, with her husband Mike, and children Nick and Shannon. Renee’ has watched this valley grow and thrive, through the eyes of her children who attended James Foster Elementary, Arroyo Seco Junior High and Saugus High School, as well as through her own professional eyes, as a successful hair dresser and now, award winning salon owner.
In August 2007, Renee’ opened the doors to Rituals Colour Salon. She is the proud Owner and Creative Director for this high end, boutique salon, located in Westridge. Rituals has been recognized year after year by The Signal’s “Best Of …” in multiple categories, such as: Best Customer Service (2008), Best Place to Work (2008), Best Skincare (2008), Best Hairdressers (2008, 2009), Best Make – Up (2008, 2009), Best Waxing (2008, 2009), Best Salon (2008, 2009).
Over and above her contribution as a business owner, Renee’ volunteers much of her time helping the community. Since the SCV Homeless Shelter opened its doors in 1997, Renee’ and her family have supported the cause by making and serving food as well as donating clothing and supplies. Rituals Colour Salon is now a collection site for donations for the Homeless Shelter and the SCV Food Pantry.
Additionally, Renee’ and her team volunteer with the Soroptomist Group by providing the hair and make-up for the Bras for a Cause fashion shows, as well as hosting the annual reception for the event. Rituals also lends a helping hand to the SCV Senior Center, by providing make-over’s to the seniors and making in-kind and financial donations to the Celebrity Waiter Annual Fundraiser.
The Painted Turtle Camp has also benefitted from Renee’s warmth. During the summer months, she helps by providing spa nights for the volunteer camp staff and provides hair and make-up for the Painted Turtle Camp play. Additionally, they assist with getting the camp ready to receive guests by planting trees, building cabins, maintaining the gardens, stuffing “turtle pillows” and general camp maintenance. Her team also works with the kids on family weekends and assists with fundraising by selling tickets, etc.
Outside Santa Clarita, Renee’ joined actress Sharon Stone and her organization, Camp Planet Hope, to provide image make-over’s for women who have been victims of domestic violence. Additionally, Renee’, her daughter and the staff, provide hair and make-up for the L.A. Institute of Arts Fashion Show Benefitting the Sunset Free Clinic, which provides healthcare for people who otherwise can not afford medical treatment.
Beyond helping people, Renee’ has a strong affection for the environment. She works with Aveda and the Surfrider Foundation to coordinate an annual Beach Clean Up day, where she gathers volunteers to scour the beaches and help keep them clean. Renee’ also created an annual fashion show, with a “green focus” to help raise awareness and funds benefiting the Surfrider Foundation. Renee’, her husband, daughter and staff, also participate in the annual Arthritis Walk and the Relay for Life at COC.
Renee has served on the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project board for three years; presently as the Secretary and Co-Chair of the Annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction.
